Vedanta Combats COVID 19
Vedanta has been at the forefront of the battle to combat COVID 19, committing INR 2.51 bn to community relief initiatives, including Vedanta Field Hospitals, oxygen supply, vaccination drives, preventive healthcare, Meals For All, and employee welfare programmes, reaching out to lakhs of people to prevent the spread of the virus. The services include tele-consultation with general physicians and psychologists. Health & Medical Support
- We set up 10 field hospitals with 1,000 critical care beds for COVID patients, across Rajasthan, Delhi/NCR, Chattisgarh, Odisha, Karnataka, Jharkhand, and Tamil Nadu
- Cairn Oil & Gas set up a 100-bed COVID Care Centre in Barmer along with the district administration
- Vedanta Aluminium, Jharsuguda & BALCO, Korba set up COVID Care Centres with a capacity of 100 beds each
- Vedanta Sesa Goa added 100 critical care beds with oxygen and ventilator support at Goa Medical College
Oxygen Supply
- HZL supplied 8 tonnes of oxygen to local hospitals, while Sesa Goa provided 3 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen daily and ESL supplied up to 10 tonnes of oxygen daily
- HZL supplied oxygen cylinders on daily basis to numerous hospitals
- To facilitate on-time oxygen transportation to hospitals in Rajasthan, Cairn Oil & Gas provided 11 tankers
- Sterlite Copper initiated the operation of its oxygen plant at Tuticorin, with a capacity to produce 1,000 tonnes of oxygen per day
